Turkey: New Cold War is coming

According to the authorities in Ankara, the Middle East is close to a new cold war. This time the conflict is going to take place between two islamic traditions - Sunni and Shiite.

As Turkish foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu stated just before his take off to Iran, there are people who are willing to start another cold war. What is more, this war can become a "suicide" for a whole Middle Eastern region. He also added that they are determined to prevent these trends.

Davutoglu has gone to Iran on Wednesday to discuss Tehran's nuclear programme as well as the situation in the neighbouring countries - Iraq and Syria.

The tensions between Sunni and Shiia are very important for the relations between the states of the whole region, especially Iran and Saudi Arabia. Both countries want to take as much control over the Persian Gulf as possible.
