It was supposed to stay on Earth's orbit only for about nine months and then return. Before that it was to make some tests and return with data necessary to continue further production of similar devices. Finally X-37B is staying in space for more than a year and now there are another doubts showing up if the whole mission was only a scientific one.
Two months ago some astronomy fans had noticed that experimental shuttle is moving on the same orbit as chineese space laboratory Tiangong 1. The have shown a hypothesis, that the space drone's scientific mission is just a cover up and its main purpose is a spying activity.
Not only that. As Eric Sterner from Marshall Institute qouoted by Wired.com claims X-37B can be used even as space bomber - the only thing needed are proper arms which we don't know nothing about at the moment.
Now, when we have found out that the drone can stay on orbit much more than it was expected another speculations occur - if this new shuttle would convince American government for further investitions?
